You do not have to work with the Band’s Designate if you do not wish to. One of the Band Designate’s roles is to assist families in navigating culturally safe and relevant resources and supports that will help in reuniting parents or caregivers with their children.

The Band Designate is an employee of the Band and could still go to court and make submissions on behalf of the Band even if you do not wish to work with that person.
